The gaffer's thoughts on the coming season.

Ahead of the official fixtures starting this Saturday (6/8/22) with a visit to Racing Club Warwick in the FA Cup , we recently caught up with First Team Manager Chris Cornes (pictured) who brought us up to speed with a few thoughts on where we are at with pre-season now behind us.

Pre-season has been pretty good, we had plenty of game time to try and implement the style of play I want from the players this season.

The players have been fantastic, they’ve worked hard throughout and have really bought into what I’ve asked of them.

We’ve got a good group of players, it’s a young group but there’s lots of experience in there as well .

We aren’t far off in terms of squad size, I’m hoping to add one or two more over the coming weeks just to add a little bit more competition for places and some extra quality.

After last seasons ‘great escape‘ it’s paramount we hit the ground running this season and start really well, which is what I’m hoping for.

I’m looking forward to Saturdays FA cup game, as a manager it's nice to be involved in such a prestigious cup, I know it’s only the preliminary rounds but it’s still all the same, I think any manager or player has thoughts of having a decent cup run, not only does it it build momentum but it also creates a massive buzz around the club.

It will not be an easy game against Racing Club Warwick, they are a very good, well organised team. But it’s a game we are looking forward to and hoping we can get off to a good start in.
